Job Description

Organizational Background:

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include relief assistance, safety-net support including school feeding, nutrition programmes and livelihood support through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers and capacity strengthening.

This position is open to qualified Somali candidates; female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the technical supervision of the Programme Policy Officer and overall supervision of Head of Galkayo Sub Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties;

  • Prepare beneficiary registration plans and collaborate closely with the respective focal points in ensuring timely registration;
  • Liaise with IT scope staff in providing technical support to Cooperating partners as required;
  • Undertake field visits to ensure accurate biometric registrations are being conducted; Plan and prepare distribution cycles for the Cash and Voucher (C&V) projects under the Sub Office;
  • Plan to prepare distribution cycles for cash and voucher projects under the Area Office;
  • Follow-up with partners on the progress of redemption of the voucher and cash;
  • Liaise with the Logistics Unit to update the Cash and Voucher (C&V) tracking sheet;
  • Assist in the preparation of the weekly and monthly management reports and monthly consolidation of beneficiaries table for submission to the County Office;
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic outcome and clarity reports for donors;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification:


  • Completion of high secondary school education.
  • A post-high -secondary certification supplemented by courses in development economics, monitoring and evaluation or food security is desirable.


  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience on programme activities of which at least one year closely related to Data base and/or reporting functions.
  • Experience working on development, food and humanitarian assistance and food security analysis projects would be an added advantage.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.

Knowledge & Skills:  

  • Good report writing skills and proficiency using MS-Excel.
  • Experience in utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
  • Knowledge of WFP rules and regulations, WFP policies and procedures in the areas of work would be an added advantage.
