Job Description

Project Officer- Gender & Child Protection (2)

The Role:

The Project Officer- Gender & Child Protection will lead the implementation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and child rights violation prevention and response strategies while maintaining Inter Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines and standards. The incumbent will also support local campaigns and engage community in mobilization for child protection and GBV services in the community. S/he will also oversee the child protection and gender assessments to inform programming. This role will also support systems strengthening by ensuring reporting and referral mechanisms are vibrant and functional.  S/he will provide technical support to the community based child protection committees and GBV committees on protection strategies.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation.

Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Science, Social work or any related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in protection project implementation.
  • Demonstrate experience in advocacy and policy advancement work, child protection or gender.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian standards for child protection and GBV is a requirement
  • Working knowledge of English, and Somali local language.
  • Computer literacy is required; working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power point.

Working Environment:

The positions are field-based. One in Eyl while the other in Jariiban, Mudug region, Puntland.
