Job Description

Project Officer- WASH 

The Role:

The Project Officer will oversee the implementation of Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) project, which is an integrated Water Point Monitoring System (IWPMS) project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Assessment
  • Project implementation
  • Project Monitoring
  • Information documentation and reporting
  • Project Evaluation


  • BSC degree in Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or Hydro Geology.
  • Total Lead Sanitation (CLTS) and/ or Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology (PHAST) tools.
  • 3 years of experience in project implementation preferably Water and Sanitation.
  • Knowledge in Social Behavior, Change Communications is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in using computer software e. g GIS, AutoCAD, EPANET II, hydrological modeling systems, MS office and internet use.
  • Fluency in Somali language and English is MUST.
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, as well as negotiation skills.


Working Environment:

The position is field-based in Garowe with 100% Domestic travel.
